 Harris will debate with Trump's runner-up, Vice President Mike Pence, on October 7 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Only two other women have been nominated by the party. Vice President - Sarah Palin by the Republican Party in 2008 and Geraldine Ferraro by the Democrat in 1984. Both are not in the White House.A woman of color has never been invited by either of the main US political parties standing with the joint venture for president. Nor are any women elected for US president.Because of his choice, it's possible Black voters will turn out at levels needed for Biden to win in key states such as Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and elsewhere. But beyond his calculus of how his choice will affect the African American vote, Biden is trying to show his vision for the future of the country, one that respects diversity in a diversifying country.
